A stranger is just a friend we haven't met yet. I believe this to my core and every card and gift that you send, comes not from a stranger but from a friend - from someone who cares about the sacrifice it acknowledges. From someone like you. Not only does it speak to the heart of the wounded hero in his/her hospital bed but it speaks to all who know and love that hero. It reminds them that we Americans are thankful for their sacrifice and the sacrifice of their loved one. That we will never forget what they have done and the sacrifice they will live with for the rest of their lives, be it a missing arm or legs, sight or hearing, or demons that wake them in the night. We may never know the hero that receives our heartfelt words but believe me when I say that those words can ripple across generations yet to come.
